Sheridan Hansen EDGETA Branch 134

Sheridan-Hansen

Sheridan Hansen is not only the oldest member of Branch 134, but is also one of the hardest workers; he usually is one of the first to arrive and the last to leave when ever we have a club event.

Sheridan along with help from his son does all of his own restoration work, including doing his own painting. His tractors are some of the nicest restorations in our club. Sheridan has showed his tractors all over the United States and Canada. He was selected to lead the tractor parade at the California Antique Machinery Show in Tulare, CA in 2008, when they featured Allis-Chalmers.

Sheridan is also a dedicated tractor caravaner and has logged more than one thousand miles on his well known 1939 Allis-Chalmers WC Hi-Crop, including a 300 mile drive from Oakes, ND to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada, in 2004. He has shared his interest in tractor caravans with the other members of our club by organizing an annual 30 mile caravan and tractor show.  He has chaired this event for the past seven years and celebrated his 75th birthday by leading more than fifty tractors on a caravan from Cedar City, Utah to Parowan, Utah, to participate in the Iron County Fair.

Mr. Hansen has also been a very successful tractor puller. He is a fierce competitor but also a true sportsman. When one of his tractors became dominant in a certain weight class, he voluntarily moved up to a heavier class to foster more parity in the lighter class. Sheridan unselfishly gave a tractor to the son of a club member to help him get started in the hobby and has been known to give parts to other enthusiasts to help them with their restorations.

Mr. Hansen has written technical articles that have been published to benefit others and his tractors have been featured in several publications such as; “Antique Power”, “The Old Allis News, and “Family History”. Sheridan and his tractors have been viewed numerous times on “RFD TV”.

His grandchildren call him, “The Tractor Grandpa”. Many others throughout North America call him friend. Branch 134 has never nominated anyone for this honor before and we believe that Sheridan Hansen would be an outstanding member of the EDGE & TA Hall of Fame.
