Lewis-Clark Antique Power Club, EDGETA Branch #54, would like to submit David and Nancy Ruark, husband and wife, for consideration into the 2012 EDGETA Hall of Fame. David and Nancy were instrumental in the developement of the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum of Pomeroy, Washington and also where Branch 54 is Today.
The Ruark’s have donated countless hours of their time from start to finish during the developement of the 8600 square foot museum which is now basically “bursting at the seams” with displays of country life of yesteryear. From helping in securing grants to build the museum building, the donation of time and vehicle usage to haul antique tractors and equipment for display and the countless hours spent talking on the telephone, plus the donation of time and effort in restoring items for the museum, the museum itself would certainly be no where near what it is today.
David, a semi-retired wheatland farmer, is a former president of Branch 54. Nancy is the current secretary of Branch 54, a position she has held 8 plus years now. They both have a wonderful collection of antique and classic tractors, engines and household gadgets. Attending many country fairs in their area, the Ruark’s can be found demonstrating to the younger folk “this is how it used to be”. David and Nancy live in a turn of the century country home located in rural Garfield County, Washington.
In closing, the Ruark’s are a perfect example of the phrase “tireless worker”. Without their determination of seeing things through from start to finish, there would be a void in the old iron hobby.
